Question: I recently saw a Ficus salicaria, Willow Leaf Ficus tree, with a dark reddish bark color. How can I change the color of my Ficus's bark to this dark red color? Comments: Some growers have discovered that a light coating of either vegetable oil or mineral oil applied to the bark of the Willow Leaf will darken the bark color to a reddish color. This seems to cause no harm to the tree according to several growers.
